Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov doesn't want to talk about Deron Williams

Mikhail Prokhorov had to pony up all the dollars to make sure Deron Williams would leave town. You hear me? All the dollars. Every, single one of them.

Now, Williams is a Dallas Maverick and Prokhorov's Nets are just trying as hard as they can to make it into the lowly Eastern Conference playoffs, not much different than they were doing with Williams in town, anyway. But that doesn't mean the Nets owner is so happy with his ex-point guard.

Prokhorov made an appearance at Nets training camp in Duke on Wednesday and met with media after. And when asked about D-Will, he didn't have much to say on the matter. Here's more from Tim Bontemps of the New York Post:

Asked about Williams and he turns the conversation to Jarrett Jack, the Nets' new starting point guard.

The Nets haven't exactly been mourning the loss of Williams. That's true for the players, too. Jack mentioned that sometimes, a change is necessary. Joe Johnson said he hasn't spoken with D-Will since the Nets bought him out. No one seems to be missing him, and that's pretty telling of Williams' attitude during his time with the Nets.

After putting on an impromptu workout with his players Wednesday at their training camp at Duke University, Prokhorov conducted his first interview since the Nets parted ways with the former face of their franchise in July.

But Prokhorov had no interest in discussing it, instead taking the opportunity to praise Jarrett Jack – Williams’ replacement as the Nets’ starting point guard.

“I will say in that way that we have a great leader at point guard in Jarrett Jack,” Prokhorov said. “All the league knows what Jarrett is about.”

Prokhorov then added, “I will say that I discussed all the player moves with Billy, and I signed off on all of them.” He then declined any further comment on Williams, who joined the Mavericks after taking a buyout.
