NBA Finals Game 6 ticket has 'Buy Now' price of $1 billion

Tickets to Game 6 of the NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday night are unsurprisingly generating some high prices on several online ticket broker websites. After all, it is a win-or-go-home game for LeBron James and Co., and odds are good if the Cavaliers somehow survive and force a Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors, a superhuman and legend-making effort from King James will play a role.

But one owner of a coveted ticket appears to be willing to part with their seat only if a truly absurd bid comes across … one to the tune of … one billion dollars. Actually, three seats — located in Section 231, hardly primo premium seats — are available from the seller.

The listing, posted on Flash Seats, has a “Buy Now” price of $1,000,000,000 for each ticket. So far, the top bid for the three tickets is $105 apiece for a $315 total purchase price. So, yeah, interest will have to ramp up quite a bit for the wisenheimer to net $3 billion on his three tickets.

This isn’t the only listing that boasts comically absurd asking prices. Northeast Ohio Media Group’s Tim Bielik notes that four listings are in excess of $2 million per ticket.

Setting an absurd “Buy Now” price obviously could be a means to squeeze out as much as possible out of prospective purchasers. With no upper limit, the sky’s the limit for the price at which the tickets will be sold.

Outside of the few ridiculously priced tickets available online — 289 tickets in total were available on StubHub at the time of Bielik’s report — there are several far more “reasonable” opportunities to get in the gate. The most expensive tickets available on StubHub are a set of three floor seats for $3,362.25 a pop. On the other side of the spectrum, the least expensive ticket available was going for $274.41 per seat.

On Flash Seats — there were 1,376 listings at the time of the report — tickets are a bit more spendy, with the highest-priced floor seats going for $34,000 and the cheapest seats running for $219.99.

In other words, if a fan wants to be in the arena for Game 6, where there’s a will — and a hefty chunk of discretionary income — there’s a way.
