Minnesota plans to bring in Mudiay

The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to make either Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor the top overall pick in this month's draft. But that doesn't mean they don't want to keep their options open.

According to ESPN, the Timberwolves are also interested in point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, and are scheduling a workout in a few weeks:

"Point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is scheduled to work out for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers in the weeks leading up to the NBA Draft on June 25, Southern Methodist University coach Larry Brown said. Mudiay is projected as a top five pick in the draft and will begin workouts later this month...Mudiay’s size, speed and quickness lead many scouts to believe that he will be able to get to the rim frequently and defend the perimeter well in the NBA."

Mudiay has more to gain than lose by working out for the top four teams. He may not get drafted that high, but has the opportunity to boost his odds. No matter how well he does in his workout, though, the Timberwolves should still stick to either Towns or Okafor.
