Milwaukee Bucks: Grades From 124-121 Loss To Golden State Warriors
The Milwaukee Bucks had a real shot to beat the Golden State Warriors again this year, but Kevin Durant and company were just too good in the end.

This game was weird. There’s just something about the Milwaukee Bucks that throws the Golden State Warriors off, and that was evidenced tonight by the Warriors winning by just three points against Milwaukee.
They still did win though, and at times the Dubs looked every bit the super team the rest of the NBA feared this summer. Stephen Curry was slightly off, but Kevin Durant most certainly was not.
The Bucks were doing some splashing of their own, as Milwaukee made half of their 20 taken threes against the Splash Brothers. The Warriors shot a worse percentage on threes but attempted a ton more, making 14 of their 38 tries.
This team likes to fire away, and Milwaukee would’ve gotten steamrolled if Stephen Curry’s shot wasn’t off. He got some good looks–although he doesn’t need good looks most of the time–but went 1-11 from deep.
There’s a lot more to mention in this game, including some funky rotation decisions, but we’ll get there. Keep up as every player and coach Jason Kidd gets graded for their performance on Saturday night.

Starters
Matthew Dellavedova
G, Milwaukee Bucks
B+Matthew Dellavedova made some pretty moves against the Warriors! His Curry Stopper reputation is evidently true, as Curry could not get going all night. Delly made four of his seven shots, and his only attempted three. He also grabbed three rebounds, one steal and dished five assists on Saturday. He played his role exceptionally well, which is about all that can be asked of a player.
Tony Snell
G, Milwaukee Bucks
BLike Dellavedova, Tony Snell played pretty well against the Warriors. He too made four of his seven shots and one three (he attempted two), but instead of assists Snell was racking up rebounds. He grabbed six of them against the Warriors, tied for first on the Bucks with John Henson. Snell also dished an assist, and played good defense (as much as anyone plays defense in a 124-121 game.)
Giannis Antetokounmpo
G/F, Milwaukee Bucks
CGiannis Antetokounmpo is really, really good, but he hasn’t been a true point forward this season. He gets tunnel vision often and takes on multiple defenders while other, wide open Bucks plead for the ball. Giannis is good enough to still end up with good stat lines, as he posted 30 points, six assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block against the Warriors. He also had four turnovers, five personal fouls and missed 13 of his 23 shots. If Giannis’ mental game caught up to his basketball skill, he’d be truly fearsome.
Jabari Parker
F, Milwaukee Bucks
AJabari Parker was everything for the Bucks late in this game. He came up clutch for multiple buckets in the fourth quarter, and he finished the night with 28 points on 18 shots. Not bad! Jabari also added five rebounds, five assists and two steals. This game clearly meant a lot to him, and he played like it. Seeing Jabari step up in clutch moments is an amazing feeling–he looks so ready for it all.
John Henson
C, Milwaukee Bucks
AJohn Henson scored just seven points, but considering he only took three shots that’s not bad at all. Henson also grabbed six rebounds and a steal in his 18 minutes played. He had a great game, and looked like a presence in the paint against the Warriors on both ends in limited time on the floor. Although everybody not named Giannis and Jabari is going to play second fiddle to Giannis and Jabari, it would’ve been nice to see the Bucks try to punish the Warriors and their lack of rim protection with Henson more on Saturday. Bench
Miles Plumlee
C, Milwaukee Bucks
B+Miles Plumlee needed this. In 15 minutes played, Plumlee managed nine points, five rebounds and three assists. He was all over on both ends, and looked really energetic. This is the player Bucks fans envisioned when they heard Plumlee got a massive new deal from the Bucks. It’s unclear if that deal was really worth it, but now that it’s done all Bucks fans can do is hope they get this Plumlee more often.
Mirza Teletovic
F, Milwaukee Bucks
CMirza Teletovic only played 12 minutes, but he still managed to take five threes. He hit one of them, making up the entirety of his five points scored. He also managed a quick three rebounds and two assists in his time on the floor. Warriors coach Steve Kerr specifically noted the difficulties players like Teletovic give teams, but Telly still barely played, again. These rotations are weird.
Malcolm Brogdon
G, Milwaukee Bucks
C-Malcolm Brogdon is very young, and sometimes he just struggles to get going. That happened against the Warriors. as the rook managed five points, four rebounds and an assist on Saturday night. It didn’t help that Brogdon only got 14 minutes of playing time–it can be hard for players to get into a groove in a small amount of minutes, especially less experienced ones.
Michael Beasley
F, Milwaukee Bucks
BMichael Beasley has been exactly what the Bucks expected when they traded for him. He scores, pretty often, without thought of doing much else. That’s fine, as long as he’s mostly out there with bench units and doesn’t play too often. Beasley is exceptionally talented, and he scored a quick nine against the Warriors when called upon. He grabbed three rebounds and made his only attempted three while making four of his nine total shots.
Jason Terry
SG, Milwaukee Bucks
AAs much as I hate seeing Rashad Vaughn get shipped to the D-League in favor of Jason Terry getting minutes, at least he’s been good. In 19 minutes played, Terry made three three-pointers and was +10, the best plus/minus on the Bucks. He also put up two rebounds, three assists and a steal. Even though he’s 39 years old. the Jet evidently still has enough gas to go on for a while.
Greg Monroe
C, Milwaukee Bucks
N/ATwo. Minutes. Monroe played 36 minutes when the Bucks beat the Warriors last year, and managed 28 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while making 11 of his 17 shots against a better defensive team that had Andrew Bogut patrolling the paint. He was the difference in that game. His virtual absence might’ve been the difference in this one, too. He still got an assists and two points in those two minutes. Next: Jason Kidd

Head Coach
Jason Kidd
Coach, Milwaukee Bucks
FJason Kidd has been horrible over the Bucks last three games. This might’ve been the worst example. After saying two centers would play and refusing to name the bench guy, Miles Plumlee came in the game. Bucks Twitter freaked out that Monroe would evidently not play. Then he was inserted into the game, for two minutes. What was the point? Why wouldn’t Moose play against a team he clearly matches up supremely well against? Furthermore, Jason Terry and Michael Beasley should not be playing the most bench minutes on this team. Rashad Vaughn should be getting a shot–he was really good earlier this year! None of the Bucks recent decisions make much sense, and that comes back to Kidd.Next: Golden State Warriors
