There was a point this year when the Raptors looked like one of the two best teams in the Eastern Conference. Oh, how much can change in a season?
Toronto hit a wall after starting 24-7, finishing the year 25-26 and winding up with 49 victories, still a franchise record. The Raptors went into the first round with homecourt advantage, but that didn't matter. They lost the first two games of their series with the Wizards at home and eventually got swept out of the postseason.
So, there could be some major changes coming for Canada's only NBA team, and general manager Masai Ujiri didn't deny the organization could end up taking a step back next year so that it could be in a position to take two forward down the line.
"That's an option," Ujiri told TSN 1050 in Toronto. "Everything we are going to do is going to be what's good for this organization and competing for a championship in the future."
Ujiri also didn't rule out a coaching change, even if Dwane Casey, who has two years remaining on his contract, has led the franchise to some of the best basketball in its history.
"We're still going to go through the process of looking at the things we did well and the things we didn't do so well," Ujiri told TSN. "When that happens, we will make a decision and move forward."
