Lou Williams says the Raptors never offered him a deal
To hear Lou Williams tell it, he wanted to return to the Toronto Raptors. Fresh off arguably his best season, one which saw him win Sixth Man of the Year, Williams wanted to continue his career in Toronto. Unfortunately for him, once free agency started and the Raptors made their moves, Williams could see the feeling wasn't mutual. As he told Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders:
"'I made it clear that I wanted to be there and I thought, with the type of year that I had, the feeling would be mutual. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. I think they wanted to go in a different direction and become more of a defensive-minded team.'"
The clearest sign that the Raptors didn't want to bring back Williams: they never even offered him a deal.
