Lillard's first music video set to premier on MLK Day
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is a fantastic basketball player, one of the finest at his position. But beyond the court, Lillard doubles as a gifted rapper. And his first music video is scheduled to air on TNT during Monday's scheduled NBA broadcast.
Here's more, via The Oregonian:
On Monday, during pregame coverage of its MLK Day double-header, TNT will premiere Lillard's first music video featuring the single "Bigger Than Us." The video, produced by Amusement Park Music, is being billed as "socially relevant" by TNT and Lillard — while remaining vague about specifics — said its message is deep and close to his heart. "It touches on a lot of things that are going on around us, stuff that affects everybody," he said. "Whether that's positive or negative, however you want to look at it. It just kind of raises awareness, let's us know that it's right there in our faces happening. It's only facts. It's not disrespectful. It's not overly aggressive. It's just facts."
Lillard is averaging a career-high 24.7 points per game this season. His PER and assist rate have never been higher.
And his musical growth is just as startling. He went from dropping Soundcloud singles to a nationally-televised music video in no time.
This is one seriously talented human being.
