LeBron sheds light on his future

LeBron James will spend at least one more season in the fine city of Miami — that much is assured. His future after this year, however, is much less certain.

James’ contract with the Heat expires after the 2013-14 season, and with the career of running mate Dwyane Wade winding down, many expect the reigning NBA MVP to take his talents elsewhere.

James has said he does not want to discuss any possible destinations until after the season has concluded, but a comment he made during an interview with Men’s Week this week may hint at which teams he’s considering.

“I miss the slower pace back home [in Ohio] but have grown used to my new city’s little perks like fresh fish and sweet fruit,” he said, speaking about a retirement destination. “It will definitely be someplace warm. I don’t want to go back to cold winters.”

James made the comments to Women's Wear Daily, in a story published Thursday.

Now, James was apparently talking about where he would like to settle down after his basketball days are through, not where he would like the next stop in his career to be, but his comments do suggest that playing in a city like New York may not be ideal for the two-time defending champ.
