LA Clippers: Chris Paul 'day to day' with thumb injury
LA Clippers star Chris Paul currently has a sprained left thumb, but is only listed as “day to day” and will play in at least one of the team’s two remaining preseason games.
When Chris Paul somehow broke his right hand by snagging it in the shorts of a jumping Gerald Henderson on a layup attempt, the LA Clippers‘ hopes in the 2016 NBA playoffs were over in an instant. No longer did they have a chance to capitalize against the Golden State Warriors in the second round while Stephen Curry battled with his own injury. Paul’s injury is in the past now, though, but fans will still be pleased to know that his latest hand injury is nothing serious.
He currently has a sprained left thumb, although it’s in good enough condition that he won’t miss the remainder of the preseason.
The Orange County Register’s Dan Woike reported Paul’s status:
While Paul didn’t practice Sunday because of his hand injury, he’s not expected to miss any real time. Paul’s officially being called “day-to-day” with a sprained left thumb, and injury he likely would be able to play with if the Clippers were in the regular season.

Paul received the injury at Saturday’s practice and still finished the session. Again, this is encouraging news that this injury is really nothing more than day to day.
“He’ll play in definitely one of the two (remaining preseason games),” Doc Rivers said to Woike. “And that tells you it’s not that serious.”
It’s not exactly an issue if Paul misses a game either. After all, this is preseason. It’s too long and by this point we’re all just ready to get on with the regular season and some games that actually matter. Paul has shone so far, dishing out assists at a terrific rate, and more minutes at point for Austin Rivers and new backup Raymond Felton will only help them get in rhythm for the regular season.
