Kristaps Porzingis gained weight and is excited about it
Kristaps Porzingis ain't so skinny anymore, huh?
The Zinger, whose generally believed biggest flaw when the Knicks drafted him fourth overall in June's draft, has gained 11 pounds since the end of July, according to the New York Post.
Here's more from the Post's Marc Berman:
Unrelated: The progression of Porzingis' height is pretty entertaining. 7 feet at the start of the draft. 7-foot-1 at the time he was drafted. Now, we're seeing all over that he's 7-foot-3? I don't think he grew three inches along with the 11 pounds he gained. The legend of the Zinger is growing and he hasn't even played a game, yet.
Back to reality, though. This is a big deal. Even during summer league, Porzingis got pushed around a bit by bigger guys. Phil Jackson mentioned he saw him as a guy who could gain mass to get stronger. We're seeing signs of that now, though we have no idea how he'll carry his weight at this moment.

The Post reported Monday the 7-foot-3 Porzingis has put on 11 pounds since returning from Latvia to train with the Knicks staff in late July. The Knicks drafted Porzingis fourth overall in last spring’s NBA draft.
“It’s the upper body,’’ Porzingis told The Post. “Guys can’t push me around that easy, and I still got time to get a little stronger. I can’t wait for training camp.’’
Porzingis confirmed he’s put on “five kilos’’ since late July — equivalent to 11 pounds. “I’m working out twice a day, lifting hard, trying to eat as much as possible to gain weight, getting my sleep, doing the right things to gain weight. I’m getting stronger and I’m feeling stronger playing in five-on-five pickup. Definitely feeling stronger.’’ MORE NEWS: Want stories delivered to you? Sign up for our NBA newsletters.
