Knicks waive G Mobley

Published Apr. 5, 2010 10:45 p.m. ET

The New York Knicks have waived guard Cuttino Mobley more than a year after he retired because of a heart condition.

The move announced by New York on Monday left 14 players on its roster.

Mobley was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in a four-player trade in November 2008. His heart condition was discovered during a physical and he retired three weeks later.

The Knicks could have voided the deal because of the health concerns, but waived the physical requirement because the trade allowed them to move Zach Randolph's contract, freeing salary cap space for this summer.
