Kevin Seraphin is valuing potential playing time with the Knicks
Kevin Seraphin's playing time went down over the past two seasons from the 20 minutes a night he used to play in Washington. So, what did he do? He left town. And apparently, part of the reason why was because of the presumed lack of playing time that would be in his future.
Here's more from Marc Berman of the New York Post:
Seraphin certainly has a chance to earn a bit more playing time in New York than he would have in Washington. With the Knicks, he'll be playing behind bigs like Robin Lopez, Kyle O'Quinn and Derrick Williams.
He could easily outplay Williams, who has never found a way to be a contributor since entering the NBA a few years back. He could also outperform O'Quinn, though chances are, the Knicks use O'Quinn as a center more often than they're letting on right now, especially if they plan on playing Carmelo Anthony at the 4 a bit.
In the end, don't be surprised if Seraphin gets about the same amount of playing time he did with the Wizards, even if he is higher up on the team's proverbial food chain.
Seraphin averaged 15 minutes in 79 games last season for the playoff-bound Wizards, but for the first time in his career, didn’t start a single game. And the 25-year-old didn’t see his role increasing in 2015-16, leading the French-speaking big man to accept the Knicks’ offer of the $2.8 million room exception on Aug. 6.
“It’s just like I’ve been there for five years, I know how it goes,’’ Seraphin told The Post after the Knicks’ first practice at West Point. “I didn’t want to be in the same situation as last year where I don’t play all the time and I never know. Sometimes I feel I do everything right and I don’t get to play all the time. At one point, I was like I needed somewhere I can play."
