Kevin Durant ties Michael Jordan with scoring streak
Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant tied Michael Jordan on a certain record with yet another great scoring performance on Thursday night.
Kevin Durant was a man possessed against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Whether it was wanting to destroy his former team or just the fact that is he one of the greats, Durant scored 39 points and played great defensively.
By scoring 39 points, Durant continued to add to his streak of consecutive games of 20 or more points. It was his 69th straight game scoring such an amount of points and he joined an exclusive club with the performance. According to Warriors PR, he is the first person to do so since Michael Jordan in the 1990-91 season.
With the way the Warriors’ offense has been designed around him and the fact that they put up a lot of points, this is a streak that could very well go on for a while. As long as Durant is making his shots and getting to the line, he’s going to get his points.
The Warriors play the Lakers on Friday night, and Durant will have a great opportunity to pass Jordan’s streak from 1990-91 and move on up. It’s probably a safe bet that Durant will lead the way against a young team.
