Jackson reportedly wants Knicks coach in place by mid-June
Knicks president Phil Jackson hopes to have a coach in place before he takes a trip in mid-June to attend his son's wedding in Turkey, the New York Post reports.
Jackson, who will attend the wedding with his fiancee -- Lakers president Jeanie Buss -- originally planned to take two weeks to celebrate his son's nuptials before accepting the Knicks' front-office position, according to the report.
Jackson is expected to meet with Derek Fisher about the team's head-coaching opening this week, FOX Sports 1/Yahoo NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday.
Jackson was fined $25,000 on Monday for a tampering violation involving Fisher, who won five titles playing under Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers. Jackson continues to target candidates with no coaching experience who also played for the 11-time NBA championship-winning coach.
