Is LaMarcus Aldridge expected to stay in Portland?

Published Jun. 16, 2015 4:39 p.m. ET

It's hard to predict whether or not LaMarcus Aldridge will stay with the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason in free agency.

The All-Star forward has spent the first nine years of his career with the Blazers, but substantial playoff success has largely eluded the team, mainly due to a rash of injuries that have plagued the franchise.

What might ultimately be considered by Aldridge is how much he can upgrade if he leaves Portland, both from a talent and organizational viewpoint.

And that's where things might get tricky.

Here's more from Ric Bucher at Bleacher Report:

"Once the emotions settle he's going to realize that whatever shortcomings the Blazers have had it hasn't been for a lack of trying on the part of the organization," Bucher said in a video on Bleacher Report. "And he does have one of the richest owners in Paul Allen and a very good front office led by Neil Olshey. They have constantly tried to rebuild this team and put the right pieces around him. And they believe in LaMarcus. They've stood by him in a variety of ways."

"Ultimately you put it all together and I would expect that Aldridge is going to say 'I'll continue with the Blazers because I can't be guaranteed that going home or going to Texas is going to be significantly better,'" Bucher said.
