If Cavaliers could only choose one: Timofey Mozgov or Tristan Thompson?
The Cavaliers are in contract negotiations with Tristan Thompson, and it's unclear whether or not the two parties will be able to come to terms on a deal that will be agreeable to both sides.
Thompson wants a max contract now, but due to luxury tax implications, Cleveland would rather wait a year before making that commitment.
No matter what happens with Thompson, however, the Cavaliers are likely to be faced with a similar situation next summer where Timofey Mozgov is concerned. As an unrestricted free agent, Mozgov will command a salary near the max, and it's worth wondering whether or not Cleveland will choose to take on an astronomical payroll in order to get both players signed.
The guys over at NBA.com made compelling cases for each player, assuming the Cavaliers choose to only keep just one.
