Hornacek explains reasons behind recent small-ball lineups

The Suns signed Tyson Chandler to a contract worth $52 million over four years in free agency this summer, but he hasn't been seeing the minutes his salary should dictate over the last few games.

Jeff Hornacek explained his reasoning for limiting Chandler (and Alex Len) in recent games against the Pelicans, Nuggets and Spurs.

The San Antonio game was the most curious, since Tim Duncan played 32 minutes, yet Chandler and Len combined for just 26.

The Suns are just 7-7 on the season, so it's clear that Hornacek will continue to tinker with lineups and playing time until he gets the results he desires.

“In Denver, we were down so we went with it then,” said Hornacek, whose three-guard lineups rallied the team to win Friday. “Against the Pelicans, we were finding out that P.J. was the only guy that was guarding Anderson. Once you do that, there’s only Anthony Davis out there so that kept us going small.”
