Hill misses game vs. Nuggets with sore knee, ankle

Published Jan. 11, 2011 8:50 p.m. ET

Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill is sitting out against the Denver Nuggets with a sore right knee and ankle, ending his streak of appearing in 70 straight regular-season games.

Hill left Sunday's game against Cleveland in the first quarter after colliding with rookie Manny Harris under the basket. He didn't return during the 108-100 win.

Suns coach Alvin Gentry said Tuesday before the game that if the decision was left up to Hill, the 38-year-old would play. But Gentry added that it's ''best to sit him out tonight.''

Hill, who has battled injuries throughout his career, said he will simply have to begin a new streak.

He is averaging 14.2 points and 4.8 rebounds this season. He's also 15 points from reaching 16,000 for his career.
