Here's your handy primer for 'KD2DC'
Kevin Durant is a free agent this summer, free to sign with any team he wants. He's also from the Washington D.C. area. The Washington Wizards are a professional basketball team in Washington D.C. Thus, there's plenty of speculation that Durant may follow in LeBron James' footsteps and play for his hometown team.
It's possible. Here's a primer on everything you need to know about Washington's recruitment, per The Washington Post:
Durant is the second best player in the world, and may very well become number one at some point over the next few seasons. The Wizards are smart to do everything they can to get him to sign. The only fear is they go too far.
Besides the aforementioned in-game weather report, they hired David Adkins, who was an assistant coach at Montrose Christian for Durant’s only season at the school, as a player development assistant. They’ve also made personnel decisions with Durant’s free agency in mind, ensuring they have the financial flexibility to make a run at the Thunder star. As my colleague Jorge Castillo reported last July, the only players currently guaranteed money from the Wizards for the 2016-17 season are Wall, Marcin Gortat, Martell Webster and Kelly Oubre Jr. Washington can re-sign Beal to a max contract after he becomes a restricted free agent in July and offer Durant a max contract.
