ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Austin Daye to a 10-day contract to provide depth while Mike Scott recovers from a broken toe.

Scott, a backup forward, hurt his left big toe Wednesday night at Denver. The injury was initially diagnosed as a strain before tests revealed the fracture.

Scott is to be examined by a foot specialist in Atlanta on Monday. Scott is averaging 7.5 points in 62 games, all coming as a reserve for the Eastern Conference-leading Hawks.

Daye averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26 games, including four starts, with San Antonio earlier this season. He averaged 16 points in 10 games with Erie of the NBA Development League.

Daye also has played for Detroit, Memphis and Toronto in his five-year NBA career.
