Hawks 112, Pistons 95

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Paul Millsap had 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists and the Atlanta Hawks snapped the Detroit Pistons' five-game winning streak with a 112-95 victory at The Palace.

Kent Bazemore contributed 17 points and Al Horford added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Hawks (44-30), who extended their Southeast Division lead to one game over Miami.

Jeff Teague collected his fourth double-double with 12 points and 12 assists, while Kyle Korver chipped in 12 points as Atlanta won for the 13th time of their last 16 games.

The Hawks also handed the Pistons (39-35) their previous loss at the start of Detroit's nine-game homestand, 118-114, on March 16th. Atlanta, which had eight players in double figures, won the season series, 3-1.

Tobias Harris had 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Pistons, and Andre Drummond supplied 19 points and 17 rebounds. Detroit remained two games ahead of Chicago, which lost to Orlando on Saturday, for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Millsap's huge first half carried the Hawks to a 56-42 halftime lead. He had 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals and capped his all-around display with a 3-pointer while falling down in the closing seconds.

Drummond posted his league-high 61st double-double by halftime with 10 points and 12 rebounds but the Pistons still trailed by as much as 16 after missing their first seven shots.

Teague's 3-pointer early in the third extended Atlanta's lead to 66-47. The Pistons cut it 11 but Millsap responded with a 3-pointer.

Drummond and Atlanta guard Dennis Schroder exchanged words later in the quarter after Drummond elbowed him in the head and Schroder committed an offensive foul. Drummond received a technical after an officials' review.

That lifted the intensity level and Detroit whittled the Hawks' lead to nine by the end of the quarter. After the Pistons came within seven, the Hawks used an 11-3 spurt to make it 94-79.

Detroit couldn't muster another run.

NOTES: Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer doesn't think his veterans will require much rest during the remainder of the regular season. "More often than not, they're feeling well and kind of in a good place," he said. ... Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy plans to stay with a nine-man rotation. "It's just tough to play 10," he said. ... Atlanta has won 10 of the last 14 meetings after Saturday's victory. ... The Pistons averaged 112.7 points in their previous nine home games, compared with 104.3 during their first 27 dates at The Palace. ... The Hawks have reached 100 points in eight straight games and have a 36-8 record when hitting the century mark. ... Opponents are shooting a league-high 78.5 percent from the free-throw line against Detroit. ... The Pistons wrap up their nine-game homestand against Oklahoma City on Tuesday and Dallas on Friday. Atlanta continues its three-game road trip on Monday at Chicago.
