Hardwood Houdini Tournament: The Final Four

A look at the Final Four players left in the Hardwood Houdini Tournament

Paul Pierce pulled off an upset in yesterday’s matchup to advance to the Final Four over John Havlicek. The upset of Havlicek means that both three seeds advanced, taking down the two-seeds – John Havlicek and Bob Cousy.

We started with 32 players and are now down to just four. Most people expected Bill Russell and Larry Bird to make the Final Four, however Kevin McHale and Paul Pierce have had their own versions of a cinderella run. It really proves how valuable bench players can be and the power of being a fan favorite for so many years.

This round we are going to compare each player. Usually we individually take a look at each player without looking at how they stacked up with each other. This time we will compare stats and styles of play to help YOU choose which Celtic should move onto the Finals. We have two tough matchups with upsets very possible.

Just like before, all voting will be done on Twitter – @HoudiniCeltics. The poll will stay up for 20 hours and the player with the most votes moves on to the Championship.

Don’t forget that this is based solely off their playing careers with the Boston Celtics. Any coaching or front office experience shouldn’t be taken into account, neither should their collegiate careers or any other NBA teams they may have played for.

Here is an updated look at the bracket:

Side A

1 Bill Russell vs 3 Kevin McHale

Side B

1 Larry Bird vs 3 Paul Pierce

The Tournament will resume Monday, September 12. Don’t forget to vote as we have a new matchup everyday!
