Forget pacing himself -- Kobe's workouts are already ridiculous

Kobe Bryant is supposed to be taking it easy.

So what does the 37-year-old superstar do?

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Los Angeles Lakers star wakes up at the crack of dawn and go through a grueling individual workout to help strengthen his surgically repaired right shoulder. Then he gets to practice a couple hours early and get more shots up. And then, of course, he participates in a two-and-a-half hour team practice specifically designed to shake off any offseason rust off and get everyone into shape.

"I felt pretty good," Bryant said on Wednesday via the Los Angeles Daily News. "I was moving well and could get the spots I wanted to and do what I wanted to on the floor."

Of course, given his injury history over the last three years, Bryant realizes he has to cut back his workload, even if he doesn't want to. So Bryant rests during some of the conditioning drills and layup lines, as well as the evening part of the Lakers' practice, which focuses on technical aspects of coach Byron Scott's system -- stuff Bryant already knows.

In between practices and workouts, the Daily News reported Bryant has been resting and getting treatment with modalities, massages and ice bags. Though he shook off any notion of it all being too much.

"It was good," Bryant said. "But honestly my summer regimen was much worse."
