Evans leaves Kings' game with quad injury

Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans was helped to the locker room Monday night after injuring his left leg on his way down after a driving layup.

Evans, the Kings' second-leading scorer with 15.3 points per game, clutched at his left knee while under the basket after he converted the layup late in the first quarter. Teammate Travis Outlaw and a trainer helped Evans off the court and down the tunnel toward Sacramento's locker room.

A team spokesman described the injury as a left quadriceps strain and said Evans would not return. The 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year missed time earlier this season with soreness in his left knee.

The Kings were playing their next-to-last game of the season, with only a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers remaining on Wednesday night.
