Davis gets starting nod for suspended Garnett

Coach Doc Rivers has picked Glen Davis to start in place of suspended Kevin Garnett for the Boston Celtics.

Rivers said he chose Davis over Rasheed Wallace for Game 2 against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night because of Davis' ability to move his feet more quickly. Rivers said Miami's Dwyane Wade was involved in 36 pick-and-roll plays on offense in the Celtics' 85-76 victory Saturday and the more active Davis was a better fit to control that.

Wallace is 2 inches taller and a better 3-point shooter.

The NBA suspended Garnett for one game for elbowing Miami's Quentin Richardson with 40 seconds left in Game 1. Garnett said he wanted to make space for teammate Paul Pierce, who had fallen near the Heat bench after hurting his shoulder.
