D'Angelo Russell says Lakers haven't picked starting PG yet
The Los Angeles Lakers are loaded with talent both young and old in the backcourt. It's a good problem to have, but the young guys need time to develop -- and reps on the court in order to figure things out. So with both D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson around, who gets the starting nod for the Lakers at point guard next season?
Russell recently joined ESPN Radio in Los Angeles, and he told hosts Mychal Thompson and Mike Trudell that the coaching staff had yet to announce the starter to the players. As tweeted by Lakers Nation's Serena Winters, Russell did say, "Whatever decision coach makes, I know it'll be the right one."
This is where coach Byron Scott's willingness to play Kobe Bryant up a position or two at one of the forward spots could become so crucial for the Lakers. If Bryant at small forward works and is something he can handle, it allows Los Angeles to play both Clarkson and Russell at the same time.
That'll help both players continue to grow, and it'll give the Lakers time to see which player makes the most sense as the nominal point guard.
