Contract or no contract, Meyers Leonard is 'focused on the season'
Meyers Leonard is a key part of Portland's future. His size, length and ability to space the floor make him invaluable. But the two sides couldn't agree on a contract extension before Monday's deadline, which means Leonard will hit restricted free agency next summer.
The Oregonian has more on why Leonard doesn't think that will be a problem in the biggest year of his career:
Leonard is shooting just 28.1 percent from the floor this season, averaging 6.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
He's made just 2 of 17 three pointers, too. Maybe the contract situation got to Leonard after all.
"It's over with, I'm focused on the season, focused on doing whatever I can for the team," Leonard said following Blazers practice in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. "Whatever happens after the year happens after the year."
