Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks: Game Info, How to Watch
Wednesday night was the Chicago Bulls’ first reality check of the season. Thanks to the Cubs though, no one was watching. Tonight however, will be a different story. Fans from around the world will be tuning in as Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and the New York Knicks visit the Bulls at the United Center.
For Chicago sports fans, Friday may look a little like this: Skip work, go to the Cubs’ victory parade downtown, hang out until it gets late, and then tune into the big game between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks.
A perfect Friday for the Chicago sports world.
For many, this is the first game the Bulls are playing in that has been circled on people’s calendars: Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah are heading back to Chicago.
Will they be cheered for all of the work they put in for the Bulls and the city of Chicago, or will they be booed? After watching Dwyane Wade get cheered in Brooklyn, anything is possible.
Even though very few people saw Wednesday night’s game against the Celtics (check out our takeaways here!), the problems the Bulls exhibited were a reminder of some old habits: Turning the ball over, playing iso-ball, and just trying to do too much as individuals rather than a team.
Sure, the loss of Doug McDermott to a concussion hurt the Bulls, but it’s no excuse for how they played. They’re lucky to have only lost by seven points.
The key to tonight’s game is whether the Bulls are running their plays and moving the ball around, and if the defense can capitalize on a Knicks team that is still struggling to establish successful team chemistry. The Knicks have quality players on their roster, but until that team chemistry and identity is established, they will continue to have a poor record (they’re currently 1-3).
Tonight’s game is a test for the Bulls. Proving that this team can bounce back after losing games and not get demoralized is important, and now is the perfect time to show it.
