Charlotte Hornets: Is the Championship Reconnect at an End?
With the trade rumors surrounding Jeremy Lamb, could the Charlotte Hornets’ championship reconnect between he and Kemba Walker be at an end?
Will the Charlotte Hornets trade Jeremy Lamb? The possibility is looking less and less likely. The speculation has been abundant lately. According to reports the Charlotte Hornets have been shopping Jeremy.
There were rumors that he might be moved draft night as part of the deal that ultimately brought Marco Belinelli to Charlotte. This did not happen as the general manager Rich Cho moved the 22nd pick for the sharp shooter instead.
There has been speculation that Jeremy could be included in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks. The object of this trade would be to acquire Milwaukee big man Greg Monroe. People feel that acquiring Monroe would alleviate the low post scoring vacated by the loss of popular center Big Al Jefferson. Recently this speculation has been shot down. Insiders reported that the Hornets are committed to newly signed big man Roy Hibbert.
More from Swarm and Sting
I am happy to hear this trade idea has been deemed false. I have never been a fan of Monroe. Although, I am a fan of Jeremy Lamb. The former championship tag team deserves a chance at duplicating their previous magic.
Of course it is common knowledge that Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb were the starting back court for the 2011 NCAA National Champion University of Connecticut Huskies. They were great together. Lamb provided great defense, scoring and shooting while Kemba provided phenomenal scoring.
After these two got their big win in the NCAA tournament they were separated for the first time when Kemba decided to turn professional. Doing so he left the University of Connecticut and Jeremy behind.
On June 25, 2015 Jeremy was reunited with his former tag team partner Kemba Walker when he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets for Luke Ridnour and a second round pick. November 2 that same year he signed a three-year, $21 million dollar extension. Since joining the Hornets, Lamb has shown flashes of the promise that made him a former lottery pick. Even though he played off the bench he had twenty games in double figures, ten games with at least 15, and two games with 20. Not to shabby, but I still think that the best from Jeremy Lamb is still to come.
Therefore while there may be meat to these trade rumors so far they have proven to be just that. Maybe one day the team will broken up again, however, the Hornets really like Jeremy. Therefore, while any player is tradable under the right circumstances, my bet is Jeremy Lamb stays a Hornet for at least this season.
