During a recent radio interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, Celtics President Rich Gotham made a statement very few people would've expected to hear at this time last year.

Here's a shortened transcript provided by CBS Boston:

The organization's expectations are now public. There's nothing wrong with that, especially considering how last season ended, and the key free agent signings that were made over the summer (most notably Amir Johnson).

Boston should make the playoffs, and it's good to know their front office believes they can.

“I expect we’ll be a playoff team. I’d say [the fourth through 10th seed in the Eastern Conference] is anyone’s game and I don’t see why we can’t be closer to the four-seed than the 10-seed,” said Gotham. “That’s the hope; I’m not making any predictions, but we have expectations to be a good, competitiveplayoff team.”
