Celtics newcomer raves about Brad Stevens' playbook

Brad Stevens is a wizard. The Boston Celtics head coach draws up some of the most creative plays at the drop of a hat, and more times than not his players execute them to perfection.

Incoming Celtic Amir Johnson hasn't seen anything like it, and so far he's incredibly impressed with his new coach's on-the-fly intelligence. Here's more, courtesy of MassLive's Jay King:

Johnson is a 10-year veteran who's been around the block. It takes quite a bit to impress him, but Stevens is special. Boston's coach is one of the best in-game NBA tacticians in recent memory, and he understands how to put his players in a position where they can succeed.

So far, everything is clicking in Boston.

"He's a great Xs and Os coach and what I mean with that is he can draw up a play in a heartbeat," Johnson said before practice Saturday. "Like it's something he does where he watches the game and he can see how the opponent's defenses are set up and he knows how to draw up a play where it just breaks down their defense, and not a lot of coaches can do that, and he does it on the fly, which I love about him."
