Cavs' Irving has wisdom teeth pulled

Published Oct. 25, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving missed practice after having four wisdom teeth pulled.

Irving, the NBA's rookie of the year last season, had the oral surgery on Wednesday. The Cavs said he will return ''when cleared to do so in relation to his continued recovery process.'' Irving is expected to be back in time to get in some practice time before the Cavaliers open the season at home on Tuesday night against Washington.

The Cavs also announced on Thursday that they had signed former Cleveland State guard D'Aundray Brown. He averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds last season as a senior for the Vikings. Brown is unlikely to make the Cavs' roster but the club may have him play for its NBA Development League team in Canton. The 24-year-old Brown made 91 career starts in college.
