Carlesimo, Elie named Nets assistant coaches

The New Jersey Nets have finalized their coaching staff, hiring P.J. Carlesimo and Mario Elie as assistants.

The Nets announced the moves on Thursday, also announced that Jeremy Bettle was named strength and conditioning coach.

Carlesimo has 35 years coaching experience, including stints as head coach for Portland, Golden State and Seattle-Oklahoma City. He worked last year as an assistant in Toronto. He guided Seton Hall to the NCAA title game in 1989.

Elie played 11 seasons in the NBA and has been an assistant with San Antonio, Golden State, Dallas and the past two seasons in Sacramento.

Bettle most recently worked at Cal-Santa Barbara as director of sports performance and assistant athletics director.
