Can Otto Porter replace Bradley Beal's numbers?

Published Dec. 14, 2015 11:54 a.m. ET

Otto Porter has enough talent to be Washington's third offensive option, but is he good enough to be number two? With Bradley Beal out the next couple weeks with a leg injury, the Wizards will rely on Porter to step up and fill in.

Here's The Washington Post with more on how Porter is doing, and what the team expects from him going forward:

Porter's shooting a solid 45.5 percent from the floor this season, but only 28.4 percent from behind the three-point line. From there, he needs to be better, especially with the spacing Beal normally provides gone from Washington's lineup.

But successfully replacing Beal’s presence and 19.8 points per game will take more than Wall alone posting huge numbers, as was the case in Washington’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday when he recorded 26 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds. They will need more from others — like they got from Porter on Saturday — to stay afloat in the competitive Eastern Conference. “It’s going to be key for us,” Wall said. “I told him earlier, ‘Just be aggressive. Play the game you were playing tonight: making open shots and being aggressive.’
