Byron Scott says the Warriors are the best team in the league 'by far'

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott is saying what everyone is thinking, but most -- especially those employed by other teams -- won't admit: The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA right now, and it's not even close.

“By far, right now, they’re the best team in the league,” Scott told the Orange County Register.

Scott watched Thursday night's tilt between the Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, which ended in disaster for the Lakers' hallway neighbors. Despite leading by as many as 23 points in the second quarter, and 10 points with five minutes remaining, the Clips ended up losing, 124-117, after a late-game flurry from the Dubs.

“Even when they were up 23 in the second quarter, something like that, I said this game is far from over,” Scott said.

Soon, the Warriors will be Scott's problem. The Lakers head to Oracle Arena to face them on Tuesday, when the Warriors -- if the they defeat the Chicago Bulls on Friday and the Denver Nuggets on Sunday -- could be 15-0 and trying to set the record for most consecutive wins to start a season.

“To me, it looks like they’re better now than they were last year," Scott said. "They don’t have that championship hangover. I think they want more. It’s scary, because they’re not living on last year.”
