“The Hornets were able to overcome being held to just 38 points in the first half on 27% shooting for the victory. Detroit’s shooting wasn’t much better as they struggle from the field, and mainly three-point range finishing the game with a poor 15% from long range. The Hornets began to pull away in the fourth period as Kemba Walker got hot. Walker went five for nine in the final quarter for 14 of his team-high 25 points. Nic Batum had his third double-double in a row with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The Pistons got an all-world effort from Andre Drummond who posted 26 points and 20 rebounds for his 11th 20-20 game since 2012-13.” (sportal.co.nz)

Charlotte and Detroit battled it out in an ugly game that saw the Hornets come out with the win thanks to a big fourth quarter from Kemba Walker. Steve Clifford’s side has now won two straight and is looking to continue their winning ways going forward. They were able to overcome the Barbara Walters game (20/20) from Andre Drummond as he was easily the most dominant big man on the court.

    Andrew Andrews to Turkey

“Hornets camp invitee Andrew Andrews is heading overseas, having agreed to a contract with Turkish team Best Balikesir, a source tells international basketball journalist David Pick (Twitter link). The exact terms of Andrews’ deal aren’t known.” (HoopsRumors.com)

Andrews wasn’t with the Hornets for very long but he did have the chance to be with the team beyond training camp. Before pulling out of the preseason with Charlotte, Andrew was poised to play with the Greensboro Swarm this year in an attempt to impress NBA teams. Instead, he decided to sign overseas and play in Europe and the team he is signing with has now been announced. Best of luck to him.

    Holiday Shopping Spree

“Charlotte Hornets players and the members of the Honey Bees will take a group of children out on a holiday shopping spree Thursday. Nicolas Batum, Roy Hibbert, Ramon Sessions and Kemba Walker are among the Hornets players expected to take 15 youth members of YWCA Central Carolinas and help the children pick out gifts for themselves and their families for the holidays.” (WCNC.com)

This is awesome. The Charlotte Hornets’ organization is great for putting this together and giving back to some of the children in the community during the holiday season. Spreading some love and cheer is what it’s all about.
