Brooklyn Nets Sign Chase Budinger, Jorge Gutierrez
The Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday made a pair of moves which will bring their training camp roster to the 20-player limit.
The Brooklyn Nets entered Wednesday with two open spots on their training camp roster, but both spots have now been filled.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported both of the signings. First, Wojnarowski reported that free agent guard Chase Budinger has signed with the Nets.

Not long after, Wojnarowski followed up the Budinger report with the news that Brooklyn will also sign guard Jorge Gutierrez.

Budinger is a seven-year NBA veteran, who will join his fifth team in Brooklyn. Budinger has spent time with the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns.
More from Nothin' But Nets
The addition of Budinger could speak volumes about the readiness of Greivis Vasquez. Vasquez has been battling a foot injury, and Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily noted that Vasquez is “not ready.” By bringing Budinger aboard, the Nets have another veteran guard who can step in if necessary.
As for Gutierrez, he is returning for another stint with the Nets, albeit on a training camp deal. Gutierrez spent time with the Nets in 2013-14, and 2014-15. He played in 15 games with two starts in 2013-14. The following year, he played in 10 games with no starts. Gutierrez has also spent time in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, and Charlotte Hornets.
Brooklyn is just a week from opening up training camp, and will tip off the preseason on October 6, hosting the Detroit Pistons. The preseason will be a good barometer for the Nets to gauge how some of their rookies will respond to live action, and it will also give some veterans a chance to crack the roster, as well.
Gutierrez will be among the players fighting to make the roster. The Nets, for the most part, have a good feel for how their starting lineup will shake out, but there is still room for others to impress during training camp.
