Best Season By A Hawk Wearing #4
Paul Millsap (2016)
17.1 PPG, 3.3 APG, 9.0 RPG, 1.8 SPG, 1.7 BPG in 32.7 MPG
Millsap is climbing the ranks of Hawk greats. In only three years, he has made the All-Star game all three years. Basically coming in as a replacement for the erratic Josh Smith, he has been the team’s stabilizer. When Al Horford tore his pectoral muscle, Millsap stepped up and led the team to a seven-game thriller against the #1-seeded Indiana Pacers. When the team won sixty games, there was little question as to who was the “star”. Millsap doesn’t get as much hype as some of the league’s other bigs, but he consistently outplays them.
Who wore #4 most recently?
Paul Millsap (2016)
Fast forward to June 2017. The Atlanta Hawks are coming fresh off a sweep of the Golden State Warriors in the Finals. Fast forward another few weeks. Paul Millsap is a free agent. The best power forward in the NBA has the choice to go to nearly any major city in America to play basketball. Why would he leave? The team has seemingly been built to give him the most help possible. Let’s hope he retires a Hawk.
