AP source: Lue, Cavs agree to multiyear contract extension
CLEVELAND (AP) A person familiar with the contract says Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is getting a multiyear extension with the NBA champions.
Lue, who took over the Cavs when David Blatt was fired in January and led Cleveland to the city's first championship since 1964, has agreed to the deal, said the person who spoke Monday night to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it has not been signed.
Terms of the extension were not immediately known.
The Vertical reported Lue's new deal.
A journeyman player during his NBA career, Lue helped mesh the Cavs down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs. They became the first team in history to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the finals, beating Golden State on the road in Game 7.
Lue did not sign a new contract when he was promoted from associate head coach to replace Blatt.
