This season, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s headlines surround Russell Westbrook and his amazing efforts on the court. While Westbrook has been nothing short of spectacular to watch, there are some interesting developments afoot within the Thunder.
Lately, we’ve seen Anthony Morrow get a huge jump in minutes. Before the game versus Sacramento, Morrow was seeing nine minutes or less a game. Since then, Morrow has averaged 23 a game.
In his last five games, Morrow has taken full advantage of the boost in minutes. Most recently, he scored a season-high 21 points versus Detroit.
Now, Morrow is not going to drop 21 every game. He’s a streaky shooter; however, Morrow needs to score about 10-15 points a game for the Thunder to be successful. He can’t shoot 2-of-9 from the floor the way he did against Washington.
More from Thunderous Intentions
Defensively is where Morrow struggles for the Thunder. His defensive plus/minus for the season is -3.9. However, his defensive has never been solid. Morrow is relied on for his offense and floor spacing for Westbrook or Oladipo to attack.
One thing to note about Morrow is his complete professionalism and his devotion to the Thunder organization. He has consistently said that he will do whats best for the team, regardless of his minutes or playing time.
It’s only natural for him to want to play more minutes; however, Morrow has to continue to make the most of his minutes given.
Morrow has had a difficult and long journey in the NBA. However, he has said that he has a home in Oklahoma City. Now that Thunder head coach Billy Donovan is starting to believe in him, he must make shots and bring his A game every time his number is called.
