Anthony Davis out with injured finger
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis has been scratched from the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a dislocated left index finger.
Davis was injured late in the Pelicans' victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. He lobbied to stay in and finish the game, but coach Monty Williams says they're going to play it safe with the franchise player.
Davis is one of only four players in the NBA this season averaging at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. He has three games with at least eight blocked shots this season, including the victory over the Cavs.
Williams says Davis wanted to play against the Timberwolves. Williams says they're hoping Davis will need just one game off, but he will be evaluated as the week progresses.
