Anonymous NBA Scout Shares Inside Thoughts on the Charlotte Hornets
An anonymous NBA scout recently shared some inside thoughts on the entire NBA including the Charlotte Hornets and what to expect going forward.
Sports Illustrated’s The Crossover recently released some inside thoughts from an anonymous NBA scout. The scout shared some hot takes, some information, and most of all, his inside thoughts. In the article, the anonymous person had plenty to speak about when it came to the Charlotte Hornets.
The NBA scout spilled his thoughts on every team in the league from both the Western and Eastern Conferences. “I’m leaning toward the Hornets to win the division, but they actually took a half-step backward” was the opening sentence that the scout used to describe the Hornets. I think both could be true for Charlotte heading into the 2016-17 season and most would agree.
An NBA scouts best ability is to see what players excel at and anonymous shared their thoughts on why Kemba Walker had a career-best season last year. Most notably, they also gave their inside scoop on Jeremy Lamb and Frank Kaminsky. They also threw in some thoughts on departing players as well such as Al Jefferson, Jeremy Lin, and Courtney Lee.
More from Swarm and Sting
On Kemba Walker:
Anonymous NBA Scout: “A big part of it was that they changed the way they played. When Jefferson was playing with his butt on the post, they were throwing it in and cutting off. That’s not Kemba’s game. Kemba needs a high pick. Then they installed Cody Zeller. Walker had his best games when Zeller was on the floor and they were running pick-and-roll while spacing the floor.”
With the loss of Big Al this summer, Kemba should be ready to enjoy yet another season with the floor being spaced and room to create. Walker is a speedy player that excels in the open court. Hopefully he can build on his stellar season in 2016.
On Jeremy Lamb:
Anonymous NBA Scout: “Why are they bringing Marco Belinelli in? They must not be high on Jeremy Lamb. You see flashes with Lamb, then he disappears. It seems like he doesn’t have a strong motor, even though he has good skills.”
Harsh words from anonymous but Lamb has yet to get rid of the narrative that surrounds him. Belinelli could very well take his spot this year. Lamb’s motor has been questioned multiple times throughout his career. Hopefully Jeremy can figure it out and be a contributor this season for the Charlotte Hornets.

On Frank Kaminsky:
Anonymous NBA Scout: “As he gets stronger, Frank Kaminsky’s asset will be his shooting—being able to stretch the floor as a four. He’s not a center—he has small shoulders, he’s thin, he doesn’t have the strength. Once he starts making shots, he’ll be pretty good for them.”
Kaminsky’s strength, or lack there of, has been a hot topic since he came out of college and into the NBA. While the Hornets may want him to be a center in a few years, this scout believes that he is better suited as a power forward. That is probably his best position considering his height and shooting ability.
What are your thoughts on this anonymous NBA scouts takes? For the most part, they seem to be correct. Take a look at the other NBA teams and see what they had to say about the Charlotte Hornets competition.
