A Royal Acquisition: Mychel Thompson

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Last summer the Sacramento Kings signed Seth Curry, younger brother of Golden State Warriors’ guards Stephen Curry. This season, however, they may be in the works of acquiring another relative from the Warriors as well.

According to Real GM, the Kings recently worked out Mychel Thompson, the older brother of Warriors’ shooting guard Klay Thomspon.

Mychel and Seth formed the #SCSplashBrothers duo that represented a game similar to their NBA counterparts. Together they brought the city of Santa Cruz it’s first ever D-League Championship. Thompson averaged throughout his career in the D-League 11.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

In the video posted below, the athletic ability and energy of Mychel are clearly shown. With a lack of enthusiasm and energy being pain points for the Kings, he would be an asset in that department. That being said, a more likely scenario would be him joining the Reno Bighorns for now.

Below are some highlights of the entertaining tandem play of Mychel and Seth. Also on display is some outside shooting from Mychel who averaged 1.6 three-pointers per game over his career.

So Kings fans, what are your thoughts on the possibility of Mychel Thompson joining either the Sacramento Kings or Reno Bighorns? To express your thoughts, feel free to comment on either our Twitter account, Facebook page, or website.
