Sprint Cup Practice 2 results from Chicagoland Speedway

Published Sep. 17, 2016 11:30 a.m. ET

This just in: Kyle Larson is still wicked fast.

Larson, the driver of the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, has a victory and three top-three finishes in the three most recent NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing.

Saturday morning at Chicagoland Speedway Larson flashed that speed again in the first of two practices in advance of Sunday’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400.

In the morning session, Larson topped the speed charts, lapping the 1.5-mile track at 185.995 miles per hour.

Second fast was another Chevy, the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing entry of Kurt Busch, who ran 185.778 mph.

Next up was the Team Penske Ford of Joey Logano, followed by the Toyotas of Carl Edwards and Martin Truex Jr.

The final Happy Hour practice is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET.

On Friday, qualifying was rained out for the third consecutive year, so the starting lineup for the race was set per the NASCAR rule book.

That means the Chase drivers will start in positions 1-16, depending on Chase seeding. That puts No. 1 seed Kyle Busch on pole, flanked by the second seed, Brad Keselowski.
