Rain hampers Cup activity at Homestead

Published Nov. 18, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

NASCAR Sprint Cup practices at Homestead-Miami Speedway were postponed because of rain Friday. The series will now practice twice Saturday.

Teams were originally scheduled to have two practice sessions Friday, but rain showers and track-drying activities left teams idle.

NASCAR announced late Friday changes to the schedule. The Cup teams will practice from 9:30 to 11 a.m. ET Saturday, then again from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Qualifying will remain as scheduled at 2:40 p.m. ET.

This is the final race for the Sprint Cup season. Carl Edwards enters the weekend with a three-point edge over Tony Stewart in the standings.
