Power claims another pole at Long Beach

BY foxsports • April 16, 2011

Will Power has earned the pole at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, his third straight to open the IndyCar season.

Last week's winner at Alabama, Power made it around the 11-turn, 1.968-mile circuit through the streets of downtown in 1:09:06 to finish just ahead of defending Long Beach champion Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Mike Conway will start third in Sunday's race and Oriol Servia will start next to him in fourth.

IndyCar modified its road course qualifying at Long Beach, allowing drivers with the fastest practice times to pick their qualifying groups.

The tight Long Beach circuit figures to produce plenty of exciting racing with IndyCar's new double-file restarts on road courses.
