Lee Spencer honored by NMPA

FOXSports.com Senior NASCAR Writer Lee Spencer has won a trio of National Motorsports Press Association writing awards for her work during the 2012 season.
Spencer won first in the spot-news writing category for her breaking-news story on AJ Allmendinger admitting that he made a mistake in unknowingly taking an Adderall pill and subsequently failing a NASCAR drug test.
She placed both third and fifth in the category concerning race coverage. Spencer took third with her story on Brad Keselowski winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship with his performance at Homestead-Miami Speedway. She took fifth for her coverage of the Phoenix International Raceway fall race in which Clint Bowyer and Jeff Gordon clashed and Keselowski took a commanding points lead with one race to go.
Spencer has been covering NASCAR for 15 years.
