Keselowski to log time in FOX booth
Brad Keselowski admits that he’s disappointed to not be in the NASCAR Sprint Unlimited non-points race on Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway.
Still, the defending series champ will keep busy during the event, to be broadcast at 8 p.m ET on FOX.
The 29-year-old is taking a philosophical approach to not being in the season-opening race.
“This isn’t T-ball though,” he said after pointing out that all drivers not in the race must be disappointed. “Not everybody plays. We didn’t earn our spot and we don’t play. It is pretty simple. This is professional sports and we need to earn our spot. We spend our time and energy working on what we could do to win the championship, not winning a pole.
“If I could choose being in the shootout or winning the championship I would take the damn championship 100 out of 100 days.”
Keselowski will stay occupied, though, working in the FOX booth during the race.
The driver says that he is looking forward to the opportunity to do that.
“Maybe I will get to see a few things or maybe open my eyes on the broadcast side to make them better or maybe make me better,” he said. “It goes back to you put yourself in position where you can learn things and you never know what comes from it.”
