Matt Kenseth has set a racing record — but it's not in NASCAR.
After spending the weekend at Kentucky Speedway for Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup race, the Roush Fenway Racing driver headed to Wisconsin to compete in Sunday night’s Slinger Nationals Super Late Model race.
Kenseth won the feature at Slinger Super Speedway for his record-setting sixth victory in the event. He carries the most wins of any driver in the 33-year history of the Slinger Nationals race.
Kenseth battled fellow Cup driver Kyle Busch throughout the race, with the pair combining to lead 175 of the 200 laps.
Kenseth narrowly avoided a penalty after a lapped car spun following contact with Kenseth on Lap 153. According to a Kenseth team release, race officials were originally going to send Kenseth to the rear of the field, "but decided that he would restart in second since the lapped car had been warned to stay out of the leaders’ way."
Kenseth’s son, Ross, also competed and finished third.
