Johnny Sauter to drive BK Racing No. 83 Toyota in Daytona 500
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Johnny Sauter has been tapped to drive the No. 83 Dustless Blasting Toyota Camry for BK Racing in the Daytona 500, the team announced Saturday morning.
Sauter, who has 84 career Sprint Cup Series starts will be making his third attempt at the Daytona 500, the other two coming in 2004 and 2007. However, Sauter is not guaranteed a starting spot in the Feb. 22 race, so will either have to qualify or race his way into the event during the Budweiser Duel.
"We are very comfortable with our chances to race our No. 83 Dustless Blasting Camry into the Daytona 500 with Johnny behind the wheel. He has a lot of experience running upfront, a veteran in the sport and a loyal Toyota Racing driver," team owner Ron Devine said. "Regardless of the outcome of the Budweiser Duels, we look forward to working with Johnny on a select race schedule in 2015."
For Sauter, who has a best finish of 16th in the Daytona 500, he is optimistic the team will make their way into the 43-car starting field.
"I am excited to be joining the BK Racing team for the start of the 2015 NASCAR season," he said. "I am thankful for the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the No. 83 Dustless Blasting Toyota, and compete with the top athletes in the motorsports industry. We are going to get out there and give it our all and hopefully come home with a good finish for this team and sponsor."
This also marks the second year of a partnership between BK Racing and Dustless Blasting. The partnership will continue through four races in 2015, with Dustless Blasting serving as the primary sponsor on the No. 83 Toyota at both races at Daytona International Speedway, as well as the two races at Talladega Superspeedway.
BK Racing has also scheduled a press conference for Monday, Feb. 9 to announce the driver and primary sponsor for the team's No. 26 Toyota.
